SALMON ARM – Salmon Arm and area residents are advised lab services at the Shuswap Outpatient Collection Lab at #2 – 2770 10 Ave NE, Salmon Arm will be unavailable from June 5-9, 2023 to allow for a safe and smooth transition into a new space.

During this week, patients requiring urgent bloodwork only can present at Shuswap Lake General Hospital between 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Patients with routine bloodwork are asked to kindly wait until the new space opens on June 12. Additional staff has been requested to support increased patient collections for the first week.

The upgraded Outpatient Collection Lab is being relocated to vacant space within the existing building. Community residents will experience a more modern environment with improved accessibility and efficiency of services.

Please do not call the clinic asking for test results. If you would like copies of your tests, it is your responsibility to sign up for the Interior Health MyHealthPortal. For more information, please visit:

https://www.interiorhealth.ca/YourHealth/MyHealthPortal/Pages/default.aspx

On your next visit to the lab or imaging, please ask the staff to register you for the Interior Health portal.

For tests that are sent out to other labs, you can access these through your Health Gateway, an app provided by the Government of BC (the same app you used to get your proof of vaccination for COVID).

We encourage all our patients to sign up for our Medeo portal–it is the fastest way for you to hear from your doctor on any test results you are expecting and the fastest way for your doctor to communicate any need for follow up or further instructions.

How to arrange xrays: (You must bring photo ID to every appointment)

For plain xrays the hospital diagnostic imaging department is open 8AM-4:30 PM Monday to Friday. No appointment is needed. During the COVID-19 pandemic, you must go into the hospital on your own unless you require a caregiver or interpreter. Please check with the booking clerk about whether you are allowed to bring a support person for obstetric ultrasounds.

We will fax requests for ultrasound, CT scans, diagnostic mammograms, and other tests directly from our office to the facilities who will book them and contact you with appointment information. Therefore it is very important that you keep us updated on any changes to your telephone, email, and mailing addresses.
