Should I get checked for diabetes?

Type 2 or adult-onset diabetes can increase your risk of heart disease and stroke. Some specialist societies recommend frequent, if not annual, blood tests to check for this. The starting age varies but is often 45-50.

The following are risk factors for type 2 diabetes:

-obesity

-inactivity

-family history of type 2 diabetes

-history of diabetes in pregnancy

However, not everyone needs a blood test.

If you are wondering about having a blood test, print off this form and fill out the information you know. Bring it in and we will review whether you need a blood test or not.
