We accept self-referrals for maternity care. Please do not call asking if we are accepting new family practice patients. Go to Health Connect Registry to register and get on the list for a family physician.

Help us respect time–both yours and ours. We try to run as close to time as possible. Please arrive on time for your appointments; if you are late it throws off the rest of the day for us.

Please help us be most efficient with our time by telling us all the reasons for your visit at the START of your visit. If you have a list, we will likely not be able to cover all your concerns in one visit, but we need to hear the whole list so we can identify any potentially urgent issues. Please do not save up problems–come see us as the concerns arise.

If you have a new hip, leg, or knee problem, please come with a pair of shorts you can change into when you arrive. If you have a new shoulder or elbow problem, please bring a sleeveless shirt/tank top. If you have a cough, please get out of your multiple clothing layers before the physician comes into the room. This will allow your physician to do a proper examination without wasting time waiting for you to prepare for an examination.

If you are having difficulty reaching us on the phone, we encourage you to use the Medeo patient portal. This is the easiest way to interact with our clinic and will save you tons of time waiting on hold, trying to book appointments, etc. You can also book appointments when we are not open, which can be helpful for busy working families. We usually have same-day availability for urgent issues. (but do not wait til the last minute for a prescription refill you knew you needed 3 weeks ago!) Portal messages are not for prescription refills; please book proper appointments (either phone or in person). Often we identify issues or discover medications need adjusting when we refill prescriptions.

For new issues, please book IN-PERSON appointments. It is very difficult to do a proper assessment of a new problem without a hands-on examination.

We encourage all our patients to sign up for our Medeo portal–it is the fastest way for you to book an appointment, hear from your doctor on any test results you are expecting, and receive any follow up or further instructions. Make sure you have a unique email address set up (not shared with anyone else in our database) and ask our receptionist to send you an invitation on your next visit. If you are an active or maternity patient with our clinic, we have sent you a Medeo link with an open message. You can only message us if we have sent you an open message.

The easiest way to use Medeo is to download the smartphone app on the Android or Apple app store.

Apple Medeo app linkLink to Medeo on Google Play storeThen go into that Medeo invitation in your email “Shuswap Providence Medical Clinic is inviting you to book online”, click the link, and your phone will launch the Medeo app. Once you have logged in, your smartphone will remember your password and future logins will be much easier.

Do not send emails through regular email channels; email does not meet privacy and security standards. Use Medeo only.

For parents booking on behalf of their children or adult children booking on behalf of their non-techie parents, please see this article:

Medeo works best if everyone has their own email address. To get around this another way, you can create an email for your kids or parents (e.g. Gmail, etc), and then you can create a forwarding rule to send all messages to your own email address:

https://support.google.com/mail/answer/10957

You can then add yourself to their Care Circle so you will be notified of any appointments or messages with our clinic. At some point, as your child gets older and more independent, you can discuss when to disconnect from their Care Circle. (and their email forwarding)

This way, we can have separate logins for each child so you can book and message under their own names.

You can then use different logins/passwords on the Medeo app on your smartphone (your phone’s password manager should be able to keep everyone’s logins/passwords straight for you.)

Thanks for helping us to to improve your communication with our clinic and use everyone’s time more efficiently.
